PRODUCT CARE & CLEANING GUIDE

Simple care guidance to help maintain the appearance and function of St George bathroom and kitchen products.

GENERAL CARE PRINCIPLES

  • Use soft, non-abrasive cloths and mild cleaning products unless the product instructions state otherwise.
  • Rinse away cleaning residue with clean water and dry the surface after cleaning where practical.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, metal scourers and sharp objects that may damage the finish.
  • Always follow the specific installation, operation and maintenance instructions supplied with the product.

CERAMIC SANITARYWARE

For toilets, basins and other vitreous china surfaces, routine cleaning with warm water and a mild household detergent is generally sufficient.

  • Wipe with a soft cloth or non-scratch sponge, then rinse with clean water.
  • For heavier marks, repeat the cleaning process rather than using aggressive abrasive products.
  • Do not use metal scourers, highly abrasive powders or tools that may scratch or dull the glazed surface.
  • Remove spills and staining substances promptly to reduce the chance of permanent marking.

SMART TOILETS, TOILET SEATS & PLASTIC COMPONENTS

Smart toilet seats and plastic components require gentler cleaning than ceramic surfaces. Care should also be taken around electrical controls, connections and openings.

  • Use a soft cloth dampened with warm water and a small amount of mild soap or neutral detergent.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvent-based products, bleach concentrates or rough scouring pads on plastic or coated seat surfaces.
  • Do not spray cleaner directly into electrical components, control panels, power connections, vents or internal openings.
  • Avoid placing hot objects on plastic components and avoid contact with sharp objects that may scratch or deform the surface.
  • Check seat and hinge fixings periodically and have loose fittings adjusted before continued use causes damage.

TAPWARE, SHOWERS & BATHROOM ACCESSORIES

Regular, gentle cleaning is the best way to preserve plated and coloured finishes.

  • Clean with a soft cloth and warm soapy water, then rinse and dry with a clean soft cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring powders, steel wool, hard brushes or aggressive polishing compounds.
  • Avoid cleaners containing strong acids, chlorides, halides or other corrosive chemicals unless specifically approved for the finish.
  • Do not leave household cleaners, soap residue, toothpaste or personal-care products sitting on the surface for extended periods.
  • Clean aerators and outlets periodically. The required frequency will depend on local water quality and debris in the supply.

COLOURED, COATED & PVD FINISHES

Decorative finishes such as black, brushed, brass, bronze, copper and other coloured surfaces should be treated with extra care.

  • Use only a soft cloth with clean water or mild soapy water for routine cleaning.
  • Dry after cleaning to reduce water spotting and mineral deposits.
  • Do not use abrasive pastes, metal polishes or chemical cleaners unless they are specifically identified as suitable for the exact finish.
  • Where mineral build-up occurs, use the least aggressive cleaning method first and test any cleaner on a small inconspicuous area before wider use.

STAINLESS STEEL SINKS & LAUNDRY PRODUCTS

Stainless steel is designed for everyday use and is corrosion resistant, but normal use may still result in light scratching, water marks or surface deposits over time.

  • For routine cleaning, wash with warm water and mild detergent, rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.
  • Clean in the direction of the visible grain where applicable. Avoid circular scrubbing that may create uneven marks.
  • Do not leave chloride-rich cleaners, strong disinfectants, hydrochloric acid or other corrosive chemicals in contact with stainless steel.
  • Remove metal filings, steel-wool residue and other foreign particles promptly, as these can create surface rust staining even when the sink itself is not corroding.
  • For coloured stainless-steel finishes, do not use abrasive pads or polishing products. Treat the surface as a decorative finish.

IMPORTANT CLEANING PRECAUTIONS

To help protect product surfaces and finishes:

  • Avoid abrasive powders, steel wool, hard scourers and scraping blades; use a soft, non-abrasive cloth instead.
  • Avoid strong acids, hydrochloric acid and aggressive chemical cleaners; use mild soap or a neutral household detergent where suitable.
  • Do not leave cleaner, soap or chemical residue on the surface; rinse with clean water and dry after cleaning.
  • Do not use unverified metal polish on coloured or coated finishes; use only products specifically approved for the exact finish.
